Flourish Electrolysis
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal. During treatment, a fine metal probe is inserted into the hair follicle at the correct depth, and a mild electrical pulse is applied. This pulse destroys the germinative cells responsible for hair growth. After the hair is treated, it is carefully removed using a tweezer.
There are different techniques within electrolysis, which we will discuss in your consultation. All methods are equally effective, and we'll choose the one that is best suited for your skin and hair type.
Electrolysis is safe for all skin tones and works on all hair types. However, it’s important to note that electrolysis is not a one-time treatment. Several sessions are typically required and can take a few years to complete, depending on factors like previous hair removal methods (waxing, shaving, etc.), hormonal imbalances and the density and thickness of your hair, your consistency with the appointments etc.
Frequent Asked Questions
Is it something new?
Definitely not. Electrolysis was first used by Dr Michel an ophthalmologist, in 1875 to solve the problem of ingrown eyelashes. After the treatment, the hair did not regrow and the history was made. A lot of advancement has been made since then.
How much does it cost and how long will it take?
This varies from individual to individual. No two bodies are alike. Main factors involved are:
1. Previous hair removal methods used
2.Amount and thickness of hair present
3.Hormonal imbalances, medications
4.Skin reaction
5.Pain tolerance
6.Consistency of treatments
Number of sessions are required. The length of sessions depends on the amount of hair present and client's toleration. Normally, weekly appointments are required, followed by bi-weekly and then monthly. But as it depends on all the above mentioned factors, so it can vary from person to person. A consultation is required to discuss your needs, and to create a treatment plan.

Why Consistency is Key
It’s crucial to maintain regular appointments for electrolysis, as hair grows in different cycles. The hairs treated during one session may not be all the hairs you have—there are always more hairs growing underneath the skin that are in different growth phase. If you’ve ever noticed new hairs growing a few days or weeks after waxing or tweezing, those are different hairs that were still growing underneath your skin when you last removed hair.
For optimal results, we need to treat hair when it’s actively growing, which is why consistent appointments are necessary. This ensures we can target all the hair follicles in their active phase, ultimately leading to permanent hair removal.

Is Electrolysis painful?
Pain tolerance varies from person to person. Some people do not find it painful at all while others find it quite uncomfortable. The settings are set according to each individual’s tolerance. Numbing creams helps!
Are the needles sterilized?
A new needle is used for each client and is safely discarded after each treatment. Tweezers and any other instrument used is sterilized and a new pair of gloves is used for each client.
What post-care should I follow?
-
Avoid direct sunlight for first few days of electrolysis treatment. If you must go out in the sun, use a high protection factor sunscreen of at least SPF 30.
-
Avoid rubbing, scratching and over touching the treated area.
-
It’s normal for scabs to form after treatment. Do not pick the scabs as it can cause scars and increase the sign of infection.
-
Refrain from using harsh skincare products.
-
Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours. If you must wear makeup, mineral based makeup is the best option.
-
Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, like working out or sitting in at sauna immediately after treatment. Sweat is full of bacteria and can get into open follicles and cause infection.
-
Do not wax, tweeze, sugar or thread between appointments. If you must remove your hair between appointments, it is perfectly fine to trim or shave hair but please make sure there is enough time for the hair to grow back for your electrologist to see.
-
Keep the skin dry, clean and cool.
